Things are brewing each month on Zesty. We have new updates in store for the community for August as we build out the protocol.
Beacon Updates
In the past month, interesting things have been spotted on the beacons. We see that the Quest Pro might be live at the moment. Some media outlets have picked up on the information provided by Zesty. https://uploadvr.com/quest-pro-spotted-webxr-cambria/.
We do see slightly lowered overall usage in August, though usage spikes in the weekends or holidays. This is most likely due to schools reopening. We note that the majority of headset users at the moment range from young teens (12+) to young adults (20+). The user base is fairly young at the moment.
We do see an increase in unique users that the Beacon sees, 178k Unique Visitors (+3.72%), but a decrease in overall Beacon loads 1.88M (-30.63%), agreeing with the visit and click stats that we currently observe. The user base is increasing but isn’t able to use the headset as frequently on weekdays.
While general usage might be muted we see promising growth. On 4 Sep, we see a new all-time high in visits suggesting an influx of new users on the network.
Market Updates
Since our last update on July 2022, the Zesty Market contract on Polygon has paid out another 532 USDC to creators, to a total of 13,844 USDC. We now see 8400 Auctions Created (+49.54%), 1676 Campaigns Approved (+43.99%), 104 unique advertisers (+1.96%), 53 unique creators (+1.92%).
While growth in terms of raw numbers is muted compared to the earlier half of the year, we see consistently increasing usage of the market. The market does address a pain point of XR creators, while the is volume small, we hope to help create more value for creators in the space. To help improve the usage of the market, the Zesty team is working and executing business development strategies in 2022Q4.
Supply Business Development Strategy
We do see a plateau on the supply side of experiences, building good games and Metaverse experiences that would compel people to want to visit is difficult. On this front, the Zesty team will gradually reach out to projects who would be interested in analytics, and monetization using the SDK we built.
Meanwhile, Zesty is working on an experience internally to both increase the supply of experiences as well as to provide a platform to build and improve the functionality of the SDK we have already built. It was titled Zesty Shooter in the previous community call but we have since renamed it to Robot Rally. More details about the experience are in the subsequent section of the update.
Demand Business Development Strategy
To help bootstrap further demand on the marketplace, Zesty has been buying out time slots in the marketplace to promote Robot Rally. With the Zesty Market, we see a peak usage of 800 unique visitors in a day through using the Zesty Market. The game is still in alpha, and such statistics are highly promising. We intend on using Robot Rally as a case study for potential game marketers who might be interested in using the network.
To help increase demand for the supply on the Zesty network, Zesty has partnered with Metaviu who would integrate their demand for Metaverse spaces with Zesty’s supply. Integration details are still being discussed and we’ll be updating the community as things develop.
To further increase supply-side adoption, the Zesty team is exploring affiliate links as a way of filling up spaces should none be filled. Affiliate partnerships are still being discussed, some of the affiliates we will be working with include (VRSync, Cre8r DAO’s Amplifi Program, and Unstoppable Domains).
Robot Rally
Robot Rally started out as the Zesty Shooter project last month. The main motivation for the project was that the default redirect when timeslots were not bought on the marketplace was directed back to https://app.zesty.market. People who got directed to the main marketplace simply dropped out, no one was buying the spaces when they visited them. We hypothesized that users weren’t interested in buying out the spaces. Users that we see on the SDK are mostly teens and young adults, it was made more apparent to us when we built out voice chat on Robot Rally and got to meet the users of the network. Users were more interested in more experiences to have fun.
As such, we’ve sought to build a social playground where serendipitous encounters can happen on the internet, where people can meet and play with one another in a virtual world. So far usage has been promising, session length has increased by 60%, and we are seeing ~200 unique users each day on average, despite the game being in alpha.
Many things are still being developed for the experience as we gradually hope to turn this into a social hub for WebXR. We are open to discussion so do pop by the Robot Rally discord if you have suggestions https://discord.gg/GnFEJMGBBB.
Metaverse Standards Forum
Zesty is a principal member of the Metaverse Standards Forum, we are still in the midst of creating exploratory groups. These exploratory groups are feasibility studies, they are a precursor to working groups where standards are created.
Right now the two main exploratory groups proposed that are still being discussed are Avatar Interoperability and 3D Asset Interoperability.
No working groups have commenced just yet, but we will keep the community updated should things develop.
See you next month!
